The walking tour will begin in the Tophane region, where Mehmet II, who once seized Constantinople, ordered the destruction of a Genoese fortress, the ruins of which are still visible. He also built the very first military plant there, after which the region was named.
We will visit the famous mosque commissioned by the great architect Sinan by the pirate Ali Kilich, who was actually called Giovanni Giocombo. Be sure to explore the surroundings with the largest hookah bars in the city, the Nusretiye Mosque and the Istanbul Modern Museum. In his restaurant we will have tea and coffee, admiring the place where the Bosphorus meets the Golden Horn Bay.
Follow the road past the Dolmabahce Palace to the Besiktas area. This is the pirate heart of the city, where the mausoleum of the red-bearded pirate Hayretdin Pasha, the mosque of the pirate and grand vizier Sinan, the work of another famous Sinan, is located.
From the square full of guns, we will get to the maritime museum, then we will go to Uskudar to the tomb of Sinan, have lunch at the Fethi Pasha estate, and then we will cross over to a tiny island with a magical history - Kyzkulesi.
We will be able to return back to Europe by metro "Marmaray" - the deepest and fastest tunnel dug under the Bosphorus.
