The history of Viennese coffee houses You will find out why and why café-living rooms began to appear in Vienna in the 19th century, what role they played in the life of society. Some of the regulars of Viennese coffee houses simply lived here: for example, the Austrian writer Peter Altenberg received his correspondence in the Cafe Central. By the way, Leo Trotsky and Lenin were also here, although the atmosphere in the cafe is frankly imperial: red velvet, gilding, ivory. Let's talk about thematic cafes: literary, philosophical, elite, where actors and politicians gather
Try the real "Sacher" I will take you through the most famous world-renowned Viennese cafes, among which, for example, Sacher: for lunch there is already a queue of tourists here to taste the original Sacher cake. You can guess the time and taste a slice of Sachertorte with whipped cream without much queuing, washed down with Viennese coffee. I will tell you who came up with the recipe for the legendary cake, why two restaurants fought for the right to cook "Sacher" for many years and how this sweet story ended
