Girona is one of the most interesting cities in Catalonia. I've lived here for 15 years and love this place endlessly. It intertwines ancient and medieval history, the customs of the Spaniards, Moors, French and Jews. Individual excursion for 1-4 people Duration 8 hours Children Without children How it goes By car Rating 5 on 11 reviews € 340 per excursion Price for 1-4 people, regardless of the number of participants

The city was founded even earlier by the Romans in the 1st century BC, but Girona acquired its modern appearance in the Middle Ages. Jews lived, built and got rich here. They made the city one of the most prosperous in Spain and even paid for Columbus's trip to the "end of the world." But during the Inquisition, non-Catholics were subjected to the most severe persecution, and those Jews who did not want to accept another faith had to leave their homes and country.

The houses of rich Jews did not remain empty for long - in the 15th century, the authorities settled in the poor. The Spaniards did not have the money to make changes to the buildings, and the Jews cost themselves so solidly that even in the 21st century, the medieval flavor and way of life were completely preserved in the Old Town of Girona: narrow streets where two people would not disperse, houses made of rough stone, saving shadow from the scorching sun.

On our walking tour through the heart of medieval Catalonia, I will guide you through these streets, tell you the local history and show you other attractions. For example, the Cathedral - one of the tallest in Europe - and the famous Staircase of Repentance. All this you could already see in the movie "Perfumer", since Girona has become a real set for filming.

After walking around Girona, we will drive to the small French port city of Leucate. Even at the entrance to the town, you will notice cages in the bay - these are oysters. They are brought to numerous coastal restaurants by boats, unloaded into the pools and … I don't want to say anything further. Let's order right away! A kilogram of the largest oysters is only 3 euros! And here are the mussels! And shrimp! And snails! The shells will helpfully be cut open and served on ice with a bottle of white French wine with bread and salted butter.

There is no fresh food! And even the chief doctor of Russian television Elena Malysheva admits: oysters shed youth and make us sexier … Ah, dear France, you know how to surprise!
