What awaits you
During this trip, we will visit the following Christian shrines:
- Saint Spyridon's slippers
- Monastery of the healer Thekla
- Church of Cyprian and Justina
- Church of Our Lady of Golden Linen Fields
We will talk about the history of these places, about their importance for pilgrims around the world, talk about the history of local saints and what they believe in on the island.
Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky willingly responds to the prayers of those who are in financial difficulties, who are mired in litigation or cannot return the money invested or borrowed. Having attached to Spiridon's shoes, you can ask for help in solving material issues.
The First Martyr Thekla is an early Christian saint revered in the face of the Equal-to-the-Apostles. Her name is remembered when women are tonsured into monasticism. The place of pilgrimage for people begging for healing in Cyprus is the nunnery of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Saint Thekla, where a healing spring springs, and from where the suffering take away the clay that heals skin diseases. But few of the pilgrims know that the relics of the First Martyr Thekla, a disciple of the Apostle Paul, who suffered in the 1st century and was revered more than all the holy women in the ancient Church, are preserved in Cyprus to this day.
Having visited the Church of St. Cyprian, you can venerate the relics of Cyprian and Justina, submit notes "On health" and "For repose" and venerate the life-giving icon of St. Cyprian, written in 1613 by the icon painter artist David. At your request, the priest will read a prayer for the removal of damage and the evil eye.
Our Lady of the Golden Linen Fields is the earliest Byzantine church in the capital of Cyprus. It is located in the heart of the old city, behind the Venetian walls, not far from the Famagusta gate. According to scientists, it was built in the 5th century. To the right of the Royal Doors is perhaps one of the most unique icons of this church - an icon with two images of the Blessed Virgin and Child! Above each holy image there is an inscription: on the right - Quick-hearing, on the left - Quick-responding. It is to this icon that believers come to the Church of the Virgin Chrysoliniotissa with their troubles and sorrows. It is believed that this icon miraculously supports the suffering, listening carefully to everyone.
