Where should you go first if you happen to be here in the summer? Of course, to the glacier! Individual excursion for 1-4 people Duration 3.5 hours Children Without children How it goes By car € 84 per person

The Arctic is closer and more accessible than it seems! Only 2.5 hours flight from continental Europe is the Svalbard archipelago - the land of glaciers, fjords, deer, countless birds and, of course, polar bears.

Our walk will begin in the city of Longyearbyen, which was once just a mining settlement, and now has become the center of Arctic tourism with all the infrastructure necessary for life. It has one of the most famous pubs in the world, as well as a granary, better known as the Doomsday Vault! We will climb the mountains, from where there is an excellent view of the fjord and the valley in which the city is located. During a stop for lunch and rest, you will learn about four real friends of man in the Arctic, feel what a “light breeze” is at an altitude of 450 meters and leave a record of the ascent in the book. At the finish line, a glacier with its melt water in the so-called "water channels" awaits us. We will follow it in "cats", and you will see from your own experience how unusual this sensation is.

As an "arctic" supplement to the walk, we may meet along the way:

  • reindeer (which often go directly into the city);
  • countless geese;
  • loons (the ones that give the highest quality down);
  • feisty Arctic terns (really feisty!);
  • Arctic foxes (at this time more like small dogs *))

In the Arctic, a plan is appreciated if it is: short and understandable *)) Well, here it is:

  • we leave by car to the glacier from Longyearbyen, more precisely from your hotel / camping / hostel / private house, etc.;
  • we start our way to the glacier along the moraine (in trekking shoes), and first we cross a small river;
  • we examine directly the glacier itself (in crampons) and climb one of the neighboring peaks;
  • stop for lunch and photo stop;
  • we go down back;
  • we return to your hotel (along the way I will tell you where to eat deliciously and have fun drinking).

Yes, friends, a few words about clothes: in the summer it is not minus 20, as many people think, but … But here and in the summer you need clothes that protect from wind and rain! Plus, of course, comfortable trekking shoes.

As an option: all of the above can be done after midnight, since our Sun does not set beyond the horizon 24 hours a day and is light all the time *)))
