Zaanse Schans is both a mill park (the hallmark of the Netherlands) and a Dutch folk village. A distinctive feature of the Zaanse Schans is the preserved wooden houses of the 17th - 18th centuries, which, without disassembling, were transported here from other villages in Holland. Now in some of them there are souvenir shops, and in some of them the Dutch still live.
What awaits you
Walking through the village, you can see the preserved decoration of these houses and admire the neat characteristic bridges thrown over the canals. You will see mills, each of which has its own purpose: to plan logs, grind raw materials for paints, spices, produce oil or mustard. And even pump out water. We will definitely go to the workshop, where they will carve out a new clog in your presence.
You will learn the secrets of the production of "local shoes", why the Dutch still wear klomps, how they offer their hand and heart with their help, and you can also admire the amusing examples of these shoes that have survived to this day. We will also visit the farm where you can taste different types of the famous Gouda cheese (original, with herbs, pesto sauce, pepper and various other additives) and buy your favorite.
