Eco-tourism is a new destination that will give you the opportunity to enjoy nature and taste local products. It is so pleasant to escape for the whole day from the bustling capital of Tuscany to a small medieval town, visit workshops and a small family farm, where for more than thirty years several types of delicious sheep cheese have been lovingly made. I will tell you about the history of medieval Volterra and introduce you to the colorful local cheese makers. Individual excursion for 1–4 people Duration 6 hours Children Allowed with children How it goes By car € 370 per excursion Price for 1-4 people, regardless of the number of participants
What awaits you
Cheese dairy See how the famous sheep cheeses are made. Together with local craftsmen, I will tell you about the secrets of making different types of pecorino cheese, which is the Tuscan trademark. It is usually served with honey, marmalade, or fruit. Further, the good-natured Italian hostess will prepare a Tuscan lunch for us and offer to taste the cheeses of her own production. What could be tastier than Tuscan ribollita soup and homemade pasta with boar sauce? And children will definitely be delighted by the meeting with the donkey Orazio and the sheep
Volterra
You can feel the atmosphere of a small Tuscan town and its centuries-old lifestyle in Volterra. Let's start our acquaintance with the magnificent medieval Prior Square, where the oldest palace in Tuscany is located - the Palace of the Elders. You will see the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the 13th century baptismal, get acquainted with the archaeological park of the Roman theater and Etruscan temples, as well as with one of the richest museums of Etruscan art in Italy - the Guarnacci Museum
Part of the walking route is dedicated to the book from the Twilight series: I will lead you in the footsteps of Edward and Bella, because it is in Volterra that the action of the novel New Moon takes place.
