The legacy of old Kazan The route starts from G. Tukay Square (in the common people "Ring"), from where we will walk along the streets of Petersburg, Kalinin, Volkov, Butlerov, Nekrasov and others. What is the peculiarity of this part of Kazan? Here the history of the city from the time of the Nogai Horde (Petersburg Street was previously called the Nogai Road, and even earlier, until the 15th century, was called the Nogai Yul) and what was here during the Kazan province, are intertwined in a unique way. Until now, here you can find old houses of the outgoing Kazan, which we will definitely consider
Residential stories Leaving the pedestrian Peterburgskaya street, we find ourselves in a very nice part of the city, where tourists are usually not taken, where you will see both historical and architectural monuments and ordinary residential buildings. These are the streets of Kalinin, Volkov, Lesgaft, Aivazovsky and others
Who lived here? For example, a small wooden pre-revolutionary mansion on Katanovsky lane will tell about the Arbuzov family of scientists. Father - Alexander Erminingeldovich Arbuzov - the founder of the chemistry of organophosphorus compounds. Boris Alexandrovich, eldest son, also an outstanding chemist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The youngest son Yuri and daughter Irina became doctors of chemical sciences. Both Alexander Erminingeldovich himself and Boris Alexandrovich with his family lived in this mansion (until 1955). The peculiarity of the house is that it fully reflects the lifestyle and atmosphere that reigned in the house of scientists. On a complex area of 590 sq. m. attention is attracted not only by the building itself, but also by the garden with perennial flowers and shrubs, planted by the owners of the estate themselves.
On my walk I will also tell you:
- why a monument to Peter I was not erected on St. Petersburg street;
- what Peter the Great noted when he arrived in Kazan;
- who inhabited the Sukonnaya Sloboda;
- who is Lesgaft;
- what a dark story is associated with the Hermitage garden;
- and much more!
- The tour is designed for 3-4 hours. The route can be adjusted as you wish.
- The excursion for you will be led by me or another guide from my team
