Andechs monastery: stories and traditions We will go to the ancient Benedictine monastery, which has been towering for 900 years on the Holy Mountain by the lake. During a walk through the territory of Andechs, you will learn about the structure of the monastery and its role in the life of medieval Europe, see the outbuildings and Christian relics that for centuries healed the sick from terrible ailments. In the local church, we will not only look at the wall paintings and ancient sculptures, but also the tomb of the composer Karl Orff, the author of the famous "Carmina Burana". And from the height of the Holy Mountain you will have a magnificent view of the blue lakes and landscapes of the Bavarian province
Taste the monastery beer! Then you will find the gastronomic delights of a monastery inn under the historical freedoms of the 15th century and a tasting of excellent local beer! The servants of the monastery have perfected the recipes of the foamy drink for centuries and brought them to perfection. You will competently taste light helles, dark dunkel, weizen wheat, monastery special and other varieties, while I will tell you about the brewing traditions of the monastery. After all, for monks, brewing beer is a kind of service, and they treat it with special zeal.
Organizational details
- If you want to visit the production of the monastery brewery, please inform us in advance, and I will take care of your participation in the tour.
- Additional costs: tasting 6 sorts of monastery beer (7.5 euros per person); snacks and meals in the monastery tavern - optional; visit to the brewery production (6 euros / person) - carried out from Monday to Thursday; transport from Munich to the Andechs monastery and back.
- We can get to the monastery by public transport: city train + bus. Also at your service is my vehicle fleet: licensed cars, minivans and buses of German manufacturers, Russian-speaking professional drivers. The type and price of transport services is agreed upon by correspondence.
