The religious path of Georgia. Temples Jvari and Svetitskhoveli The excursion begins with a tour of the Jvari temple (V-VI century). This is a place on the top of a mountain, from which wonderful views of the valleys of the Kura and Aragvi rivers open. Here everyone can feel the special energy of antiquity - on this land in the pre-Christian era there was a pagan altar and a huge tree grew, from the wood of which the first cross in the history of Georgia was erected. Further, we will move to the center of the ancient stlitsa of Georgia and a majestic panorama of the Svetitskhoveli temple (XI century) opens before us, the temple where the kings of Georgia were married, where they were buried and where their ashes rest
Carved into the rock of Uplistsikhe We will drive along the modern autobahn, through the city of Gori, the center of the ancient province of Georgia - Shida Kartli, where you will see grandiose monuments of the Stalinist era, including its museum, which you can visit if you wish. At the end of our journey we will reach an ancient cave city, one of the first in Georgia. Rocky Uplistsikhe appeared at the end of the 2nd - at the beginning of the 1st millennium BC. BC, it experienced several ups and downs and was finally abandoned in the 19th century. Today it is a multi-layered archaeological site, one of the most important monuments of Georgian culture, which is worth visiting for all travelers who want to better understand the ancient history of the Georgian land.
