Interesting facts about the Vatican The first hour we will devote to St. Peter's Square: you will understand the features of the architectural complex of the square and learn many interesting facts about the Vatican, collected by me from various sources. After our walk you will know all the most interesting about the smallest and most influential state in the world, for example
- who now lives in the Vatican and how to get his passport;
- what is the daily routine of the Swiss guards, what feats they became famous for and in what case they can get married;
- where the Pope lives and what he eats;
- on what occasions the usually walled “Holy Door” is opened;
- where is and where the secret corridor leads, along which the popes hid from danger
Stories and masterpieces of St. Peter's Basilica We will come to the very opening of the cathedral, so we will not stand in line for a couple of hours, but get inside in 5-10 minutes! You will get acquainted with the architecture and painting of the cathedral, see Michelangelo's Pieta, the tombs of the popes and the incredibly beautiful Bernini Altarpiece
Highest point in Rome Then we will climb to the highest point in Rome - the dome of St. Peter's Basilica! Climbing just 320 steps, you will enjoy superb views of the Eternal City. From a bird's eye view, you will see the shortest railway in the world, the papal residence and the best Roman landmarks
Ages of the Castle of the Holy Angel Along the street of Reconciliation (by the way, who reconciled with whom, you will also find out) we will head to the famous Castle of the Holy Angel.
