What awaits you
One Ragusa and two cities Ragusa is interesting already because it was the only one in Sicily to survive the century-old "war" of the Holy Patrons, and several centuries ago, two historical centers were divided - we are exploring both. You will find out what the secret of such a city structure is, you will see the two main squares of Ragusa, two cathedrals, two municipalities and even two railway stations. You will also admire the magnificent panoramic views of the city, stroll up and down the steps of the winding picturesque streets, see the majestic churches and taste the local "ice cream from wine" in the famous Raguz cafe
What ancient facades will tell you about I will reveal to you the secrets of Ragusa, hidden behind the walls of the luxurious palaces of the local nobility. You will find out why, after the earthquake, the city was not rebuilt in its old place, how the aristocrats deceived local residents in the middle of the 19th century, and how Ragusa became famous among fans of Mediterranean cuisine. Let's understand the nuances of local architecture: I will tell you how to distinguish the late Sicilian baroque from the classical baroque, what is “asphalt stone” and what the figures on the chic baroque balconies can tell about. And then we will return to today and discuss why Ragusa is considered one of the most prosperous cities in southern Italy (but about this in secret and in a whisper).
