What awaits you
Residence of the Princes Czartorizhsky At the Czartoryski Museum you will find a real journey into the world of 19th century aristocracy. You will hear the story of an amazing family who gave Krakow a unique collection of works of world art. In the hall of the Czartorizski family, immerse yourself in the life of a Polish aristocrat, examining portraits, ceremonial costumes, diamond jewelry, military orders and ceremonial weapons. We will also look into the halls dedicated to the royal families of Poland, Jagiellons, Vaz, Wettins: here you will see the personal belongings of the monarchs and the objects of art that belonged to them. And in a room with luxurious Meissen porcelain, which was used during banquets, I will talk about the ceremonies and cuisine of the 18th century
The crown of the collection and the canvases of the Flemish masters If the museum is a jewelry box, then the main diamond in the Czartoryski crown can be safely called "The Lady with the Ermine" - an authentic work of Leonardo da Vinci, which is exhibited in a separate room. We will discuss the history of the creation and the symbolism of the mysterious portrait. Next, consider the canvases of Italian and Flemish artists: "Landscape with a Merciful Samaritan" by Rembrandt, "Portrait of a Young Man" by Raphael and other masterpieces. Depending on what interests you, I will focus the story on the creation of exhibits, artistic details or almost detective stories about the kidnapping of paintings by the Nazis and their miraculous return to Krakow.
