What awaits you
Fascinating conversations on the way to the monastery The road will take about 5 hours (there and back) and all this time you will not only enjoy the Karelian beauties, but also listen to interesting stories: on the topic of the program and about our amazing land. I will tell you about the life of the Monk Alexander of Svirsky, his place of birth, the Vepsian family and his parents canonized. We will also talk about the youth of the miracle worker, his escape to Valaam and hermitage on the island, where anomalous phenomena are now being observed. And, of course, about the miracles associated with the deeds of the monk, the pilgrimage visits of the kings and the gifts of the rulers
Spiritual heritage of the Russian North On the territory of the complex, you will learn how at the beginning of the 15th century, in the remote Karelian forests, in a sparsely populated land among the settlements of pagan peoples - Karelians, Vepsians and Chudi - Alexander Svirsky founded a monastery. What legend is connected with the rarest phenomenon of the Most Holy Trinity and why in the old days the monastery was nicknamed "the northern lavra". I will introduce you to the architecture of temples and chapels, the frescoes of the Trinity Cathedral. I'll tell you about the trials that befell the monastery, its miraculous revival and the return of the saint's relics. In addition, you will learn about other significant shrines and relics of the Lavra, such as a consecrated copy of the Turin Shroud
