What awaits you
Howler is the largest rapids in the Urals You will see a picturesque place where the Iset River turns into a roaring stream of five hundred meters of water cascades, breakers and foam, and with a crash makes a winding path for itself through the rocks of porphyrite and diabase. Gloomy harsh rocks rise along the banks, and a little further - a light birch forest, where tourists camp. I will tell you about the annual competition of water sportsmen. I will show you local "sights" - a spiral made of stones, creating a mystical mood, and a giant smiley face on the island. On the other side of the river, you will see the ruins of a cardboard factory, abandoned since the beginning of the 20th century, and by the water, where there was a mill, there are millstones periodically hidden by the stream
Secrets of the Smolinskaya cave In the 19th century, Old Believer monks lived in the extensive branched passages of the cave. The total length of the passages is 890 meters. Because of its former inhabitants, the grottoes of the cave have the names Big Cell, The Road to Hell, Paradise, Altar, etc. I will tell the legends about the local forest hermit - a black sorceress who lived here even before the monks, and about the robbers hiding in the cave who left a human skull which the researchers found. Now only bats live here, which in winter sleep in clusters on the ceiling, sometimes waking up to fly
Church of Elijah the Prophet On the hill behind the cave, near the village of Smolino, you will find an abandoned and dilapidated Prophet Elias Church. Its chipped and mossy red brick walls are strangely in harmony with the Ural expanses and rocks that open from the hill. The church was closed in 1940 and boarded up, but you will see the interior colorful painting preserved. Now the temple is being slowly restored by local residents.
