What awaits you
Royal Bor In this historic place, I will tell you about the driven and royal hunt, which was organized here for three and a half centuries. You will learn about the famous Postal Route - the only road from Europe to Russia, passing along the coast of the Curonian Lagoon. And, in addition, visit the former German fishing village of Zarkau (now Lesnoy), where we will talk about the first settlement on the spit
Ornithological station One of the assets of the Curonian Spit is Fringilla, a field station at the Biostation of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. You will get acquainted with the history of research at the ornithological station, see the whole process of bird ringing and hear about the significance of this amazing place in the migration routes of birds
Müller height You will reach the foot of the three-headed Bruchberg sand dune and climb to its highest point (44.5 m above sea level). From a bird's eye view, you will take a look at the expanses of the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon, see the former German village of Rybachy (formerly Rossiten) and Lake Chaika. Hear the history of "sand catastrophes" on the Curonian Spit. And also visit the church, the amber shop and, if you wish, a cozy cafe with excellent fish cuisine
Dancing forest This is another visiting card of the national park. Among the intricately twisting trees, you will discover the mysterious history and legends of the Dancing Forest, located on the gentle Rudenberg dune. Hear about the founding of the German gliding school and the stories of the residents of Rossiten about this place
Efa height Climbing the highest point of the Curonian Spit, the Petsch dune (55.5 m above sea level), you will see the sea, the bay, the forest, the tiled roofs of the Morskoe village (formerly Pilkopen) and, of course, the wandering "sugar" dunes stretching along the bay. I will tell the tragic story of the 18th century, when the dune swallowed up an entire fortress and a church with a neighboring fishing village. And in Morskoy you will see how the dune looms menacingly over the village.
